DAWU PARISH CELEBRATE PENTECOST WITH A BANG!

Dawu Paish celebrate Pentecost with many reasons. First, 21 children and adults received their first communion; second, 10 couples have their church wedding; thirdly, it's Mother's Day,; fourth, visitors from Rome and Philippines visit Dawu.

Novena Masses were held at different chapels in preparation for the Pentecost Day, 9 days before the big celebration. Attendance during the novena were noticeably increased.

FAMVIN ACTIVITIES IN TAIDONG

Last May 9-11, 2008, Jinlun And Dawu were graced by the presence of the visitors from the Vincentian Family, namely, Fr. Manuel Ginete,CM representing the Superior General to the worlwide vincentian family and Betty Pabito, the Coordinator for Asia for AIC.

The Famvin in Taidong prepared a series of activities to co-incide with their visit. They first visited the General Assembly of the AIC in Taidong last May 9 before proceeding to Jinlun for the General Assembly of the Famvin. Fr. Ginete talked about the Famvin in the world. dinner was served after and followed immediately by the Eucharist in honor of the 3 new blesseds of the Famvin.

On May 10,the coordinators of the Famvin had their lunch at an aborigine resto. They hahve a good lunch and warm conversations.

On May 11, Dawu Parish held their Pentecost and graced by the presence of the two visitors.

FR. GERARD DU VISITS DAWU AND JINLUN

Fr. Gerard Du, the Assistant Superior General had his canonical visitation in Taiwan from April 12 to 22. As part of his itinerary, he visited the places of Jinlun and Dawu.

On April 21(Monday), the parish leaders of Jinlun and Dawu have a meal together with Fr. Gerard. On the next day, he went to Dawu parish to visit some chapels. Before flying back to Taipei, he passed by first to the house of the D.C. sisters.

YOUTH MINISTRY IN DAWU

Last April April 18-20, some youth who willingly expressed to be part of the Youth Ministry came togethe to establish their group. Sr. Huang and Rev. Xie led the group for the recollection and initial organization. Here are the pictures:

2008 EASTER SPORTS FEST IN DAWU

The Dawu Parish celebrated the easter vigil with a very solemn liturgy. Fr. Richard Preuss, the assistant parish priest presided the liturgy. The blessing of new fire was quite new for the parishioners since there is a traditional dance and singing to prepare everybody's spirit.

Powerpoint was used to help the faithful reflect more on the readings.

On easter sunday, the whole parish gathered again for the Sports Fest in Senyong. The parishoners were so active that the whole activities finished almost 5pm. See the highlights below.

HIGHLIGHTS OF 2008 HOLY WEEK IN DAWU

Like all the parishes all over the world, Dawu Parish celebrated the Holy Week liturgy with solemnity. Here are the highlights of the celebration.

DAWU PARISH CELEBRATES FEAST OF OUR LADY LOURDES

The Senyong Chapel of Dawu Parish celebrated their feast last February 10, 2008 in honor of Our Lady of Lourdes. A night before the celebration, they held a Taize Prayer. It was a prayerful and moving activity for the community since the youth were the ones who led the prayer.

During the feast celebration, Fr. D. Labitag, CM presided the Mass. He shared about his experience in his pilgrimage to Lourdes. Blessing and prayer for the sick followed after the Eucharist.

WINTER YOUTH CAMP

Answering the call to have a special activity exclusive for the youth, Dawu Parish with the help of the Sunday School Teachers, organized a Winter Youth Camp last February 1-2, 2008 in Dawu.

The youth built their own tent where they spent the night. The activities were all organized by the youth themselves with the assistance of the Teachers. On the night of February 1, they held a karaoke siniging contest and on the next day, they have basketball contest which were participated also by the youth from Taimali Parish.

In the afernoon of February 2, 2008, a dialogue was held between the youth and the parish leaders. with the dialogue, the youth are hoping to establish their own group in the parish and have an active prticipation in the life of the church.

A closing Mass was held after, of which Fr. Ling of Taimali celebrated.

A NEW PRIEST FOR HUALIEN

The Dawu Parish went with 3 buses to attend the ordination of Zhang Jin Guang to priesthood last January 1, 2007. Though the farthest among all the parishes, yet Dawu's delegation could not be outnumbered by any. There were almost 3,000 people with almost 30 priests attended the said activity.

The said ordination hopefully could encourage the parents to form the faith of their children so that vocation may bloom among them.

During the program, the ladies from Senyong Chapel presented a dance called Flower Offering.

DAWU LEADERS CHRISTMAS PARTY

Last December 28, 2007, all the leaders of Dawu Parish enjoyed the Chrsitmas party with a big-screen Karaoke! A festive mood made everybody participate in the contest, singing and dancing. This party is a way of giving thanks to all the leaders and also to make them closer to each other.

DAWU'S MIDNIGHT MASS

The Dawu Parish celebrate the traditional midnight Mass with the infant baptism. Fr. richard Preuss, the assistant parish priest presided the celebration while Fr. Dandy presided the liturgy of baptism. This year, 18 children were baptized.

DAWU'S GOLDEN ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION

After being postponed twice, the golden anniversary of Dawu Parish was finally celebrated last December 15, 2007. It was attended by almost a thousand parishioners and visitors and friends, 16 priests, 2 deacons and a bishop.

The eucharistic celebration started with a ceremonial procession of the image of the BVM in native dress. The whole liturgical celebration was so solemn yet so joyous that everybody was in praise of it.

After the Mass, the blessing of the Marian Grotto followed, and then the lunch and the usual program of entertainment.

SUPERIOR GENERAL VISITS CIF PARTICIPANTS

It was a previlige to meet for the 2nd time our Superior General, Gregory Gay last Oct. 25-29, 2007 as he visits us in the CIF session. His cool presence makes us feel that he is also our confrere like everybody else.

It's a big privilege to celebrate the feast of St. Vincent de Paul where St. Vincent himself had served and lived. I thank God for giving me this opportunity to deepen my vicentian spirit and walk where St. Vincent once throd.

FR. ANTON'S 40TH DAY MASS

As a tribute to the first Vincentian who served Dawu Parish, the parishioners prepared a solemn liturgy on the 40th day of Fr. Anton de Britto's death last Sept. 3, 2007(Mon.) in Dawu Church.

A dinner was served for the priests ,sisters and lay leaders at 6 pm and followed by a solemn Mass celebrated by Fr. John Wang. Bishop Zhen concelebrated with 8 other priests.

Almost 200 people attended the said Mass.
